Holding Your Hand!

A couple of my all-time favorite Bible Promises are found in Isaiah 40 – 41. I especially like the way the Contemporary English Version (CEV) phrases them – if you click on the text reference, you can read them in some other versions as well.

The first is pretty well known, at least part of it:

You people of Israel, say, “God pays no attention to us! He doesn’t care if we are treated unjustly.”

But how can you say that? Don’t you know? Haven’t you heard? The Lord is the eternal God, Creator of the earth. He never gets weary or tired; his wisdom cannot be measured.

The Lord gives strength to those who are weary. Even young people get tired, then stumble and fall. But those who trust the Lord will find new strength. They will be strong like eagles soaring upward on wings; they will walk and run without getting tired. (Isaiah 40:27-31, CEV)

The other, is in chapter 41 and the picture it paints, gives me such comfort – notice it is in quotation marks, which means that God Himself made this promise!

“Don’t be afraid. I am with you. Don’t tremble with fear. I am your God. I will make you strong, as I protect you with my arm and give you victories …

“I am the Lord your God. I am holding your hand, so don’t be afraid. I am here to help you …” (Isaiah 41:10 & 13, CEV)

Hope you have a great week!

Help for Survivors of Hurricane Florence

Adventist Community Services is working with ADRA and other disaster relief groups to assist survivors impacted by the high winds and flooding that accompanied Hurricane Florence last week. To find out how you can help, click here.

I Can Only Imagine

We will be showing the movie titled I Can Only Imagine this Sabbath during our worship service – which will begin early at 10:30 am – after a shortened Sabbath School.

The movie is based on the life of Bart Millard, the lead singer of Mercy Me and the composer of the song I Can Only Imagine. It is a true story of great pain, deep forgiveness, and supernatural healing. This story will bring encouragement and hope. It will help us understand how we can both be forgiven, and extend forgiveness through the power of God’s love.

Don’t forget to invite your friends and family. For more info contact Pastor T (e-mail or 402-517-5333).

From Bible Gateway’s Weekly Brief

Why We Kissed Date Night Goodbye: In this guest Blog post, Cherie Lowe, co-author with her husband, Brian, of Your Money, Your Marriage: The Secrets to Smart Finance, Spicy Romance, and Their Intimate Connection, says, "Managing time and money well requires thinking differently. Sometimes the cherished ideals of others seep into what we think our finances and romance should look like. We need a new lens on old expectations and conventional wisdom ..." (Click here to read more.)

The Only Thing That Counts – Faith Expressed in Love: In this guest blog post, Andy Stanley, author of Irresistible: Reclaiming The New That Jesus Unleashed For The World, says love is the supreme distinction of the Christian faith and that distortions of the gospel result in an anemic version of Christianity that undermines evangelistic effectiveness. He challenges Christians to read the Bible differently. (Click here to read more.)

Verified Volunteers – Child Protection Screening

In cooperation with the Kansas Nebraska Conference, we are working with Verified Volunteers to provide background checks and on-line education for our church officers and everyone who works with our children. This helps ensure that we have some training to help us recognize and avoid situations that would put our children at risk. In addition to our elected Church Officers, everyone who works with Pathfinders and Adventurers, Children’s or Youth Sabbath School Classes, Children’s Church, and VBS must go through this training and submit to a background check (there is no cost to you). It will take about an hour of your time. These need to be finished ASAP.

Even if you have recently completed this process with Shield the Vulnerable, you need to do this now with Verified Volunteers because the information did not transfer from one program to the other and we are no longer using Shield the Vulnerable due to many problems with their work.

To download a PDF page of instructions and links to help you through this process, click here. To go to the website where you begin this process, click here and then select First-Time Registrant and follow the instructions. For more information, contact Pastor T (e-mail or 402-517-5333).
